QuickSpeak is a translation tool that enables EMS providers in the field to communicate with non-English speaking patients. It facilitates quick analysis of the issues at hand when a language barrier exists.
This new communication tool allows providers to determine a patient’s problem as well as provide a way to explain treatments quickly and efficiently when on scene. Providers can click on an English phrase such as “lie down,” and the mobile tablet will play an audio file saying the command “lie down” in the patient’s native language.
QuickSpeak overcomes language barriers in a much more efficient, effective manner than has been used in the past. Translators and interpreters in the field are scarce. The other alternative is providers may use a telephone translation service to perform the assessment, but that can be cumbersome and costly. QuickSpeak takes the guesswork out of patient care and truly is a life-saver in situations where providers cannot otherwise communicate with a patient.

QuickSpeak includes about 400 questions per language in more than 20 categories of assessment and treatment. Like ESO’s other products, ESO QuickSpeak is easy to use and can be mastered in minutes. Translations for Spanish, Italian, French, German, Vietnamese, Chinese and Hindi are available in the first release, with more languages planned for future releases.
